PS5 Planning Permission Granted

Tonights Planning Meeting saw yet another hurdle passed in the bid to see PS5 (Proposed Primary School, adjacent to Lady Lane) built and ready for intakes in September 2003.

Without a shadow of a doubt there is a real need for this school.  We have already had unacceptable delays to this school, despite the increasing pressure on the existing two schools that serve our local area.

Since becoming a Councillor for Abbey Meads, education provision has been one of the key concerns for local residents.

Haydon Wick and Blunsdon Parish Council have been questioning the need for the school, whilst they didn't attend the Planning Meeting to raise objections, their thoughts were aired on Wiltshire Sound, and featured in the Evening Advertiser.

Both myself and Sue Beazely on behalf of the Lady Lane Campaign Group, spoke passionately for the need of PS5.  We both made it clear that there was an overwhelming support for this school from local residents.  The hard work of the Lady Lane Campaign Group has once again helped make a real difference in the local area.

The Planning Committee unanimously voted to grant planning permission for the PS5 to proceed.
