Councillor Justin Tomlinson has welcomed the reclosure of Lady Lane.
Ash Brake Residents fought hard for the closure of Lady Lane, which had been initially planned for 2000, but then at one point seemed destined for no earlier than 2005. The Ash Brake Campaign group had argued that the road was unsuitable, and should never have remained open beyond 2000.
Following extensive campaigning by local residents earlier in the year, a scheme which incorporated PS5 (The new Primary School) was given the go ahead. This not only meant a much need educational provision would be coming to the area, but also that Lady Lane would be closed within 18 months, and not 2005.
During the 18 months, Lady Lane would also close whenever major work was needed on the PS5, giving residents additional time where the road is closed.
This is the second time that Lady Lane has closed for work on the school, and this time additional metal barriers have been used to block the road, following motorists removing the traffic cones last time.
