Planning Meeting Delayed Again & Again!
We have twice successfully managed to get the planning application delayed. Where we have been able to identify issues which are sufficient for the application to be turned down, the developers have had to withdraw their plans and re-submit them with changes. Each time the changes have helped improve the scheme in the residents favour.
Campaign Gains Valuable Publicity 7thJune 2002
Councillor Justin Tomlinson and Tracy Goodwin were successful in highlighting the residents concerns to the local media. The residents anger was clearly shown on a front page article in the Evening Advertiser. (The article is still on www.abbeymeadsintouch.com). This has helped increase the pressure on the developers to accommodate the concerns of the local residents.
Councillors & Residents Meet With Developers & Succeed - 30thMay & 26thJune 2002
Residents & Councillors have organised site visits, and an open meeting where the latest plans have been discussed. This has helped make the developers greatly improve the scheme.
Issues that have been covered and improvements made:
Numbers of units (down from 4 to 3, and only 2 takeaways!), units positioning (further away from residential housing), noise (restricted opening times), litter (active litter patrols), landscaping (improved design), traffic (improved drive-thru layout), lighting (away from residential housing) and waste disposal (improved waste storage design).
Final Push!!!
We will continue to object to the plans, and at the very least continue to fight for improvements.
Deadline for letters of objection 8thJuly (Please call Tracy 705249 for further information)
Planning Meeting 30thJuly (Please call Jon 703323 for further information)
