Cllr Tomlinson Condemns Cannabis Relaxation

The Labour Government have crumbled under the pressure of the Liberal Establishment and pressed ahead with plans to 'downgrade' the classification of cannabis.

Keith Hallawell, the Governments drugs tsar, immediately resigned in disgust.  Labour had initially piloted the controversial plans in Lambeth, which has been a well documented disaster.  A variety of groups condemned the scheme as a failure, including the police, local community groups and the local Labour MP.  Drug dealing and drug use increased, and drug dealers were even reported to dish out cannabis to children in a bid to intice them onto the slippery slide to 'hard' drugs.

With 80% of burglaries caused by people fueled by drugs, the law abiding majority deserve to see tough action on the evil drug dealers.

At Prime Ministers Questions, Conservative Leader, Iain Duncan Smith told Tony Blair that the resignation of the Government’s drugs tsar Keith Hallawell over the issue showed that their policy was in tatters.

Cllr Tomlinson, 'The Labour Government and their Lib Dem lap dogs are a disgrace.  The Lambeth pilot scheme was a complete disaster and proved to only benefit the drug dealers.  The Conservatives will reverse this, and once again put the law abiding majority first.'
