Swindon Town FC's problems are well documented, with crippling debts and back room upheaval very much part of the clubs history.
With an uncertain future the Swindon Town FC supporters rallied round and formed an independent Supporters Trust, committed to helping secure the long term future of the club, and helping the fans become more involved.
The Supporters Trust has been extremely active in a variety of ways:
This week it was announced that the Supporters Trust paid 8000 (money raised through membership, donations and general fundraising) to cover the shortfall needed to secure the use of the excellent training facilities at Wanborough. This really has made a real difference to the club, and shows the importance of the community working together.
Cllr Justin Tomlinson, 'I have been involved with the Supporters Trust in a limited capacity and I have seen first hand how much hard the supporters are putting into their activities, and it shows there is a clear desire to see a long term, healthy future for Swindon Town FC, a real benefit to the local community.'
