Give Your Pets A Microchip - RSPCA

The RSPCA is giving Swindon pet owners another chance to get their animals tagged with a microchip.

It gives cats and dogs a unique ID and means they can quickly be reunited with owners.

The microchip, no bigger than a grain of rice, has a unique number that is held on a national database. It is inserted into the scruff of the pet's neck.

A vet, dog warden, RSPCA inspector or animal centre can scan it and quickly reunite a lost pet with its owner.

Michelle Stubbs of the Swindon RSPCA said: "We are very pleased that so many owners are being responsible and getting their animals microchipped. When we hear of cases where animals and owners have been reunited because of a microchip implanted by the Swindon RSPCA it makes doing the sessions all worthwhile."

Any cat or dog owner can bring their pets to the Toothill Community Centre on Sunday, August 25, between 10am and 2pm, with each microchip costing £12.50. There is no need to book.
