Arkells brewery has released details of its plans for its latest pub.
The new hostelry has yet to be named but it will be built as part of expansion of Taw Hill in Haydon Wick.
The design of the pub is intended to echo traditional building styles and it will be located next to the Northern Orbital Road and Queen Elizabeth Drive.
The proposed pub is designed to appear as if it were a series of buildings which have evolved over time.
The main building is two stories with a steep pitched roof and sash windows. A single-storey side extension will be made of natural stone with a blue slate roof.
The pub will also have a cellar, walled service yard, terraced seating area and a children's play facility.
The new pub has come about largely as a result of a campaign by local residents.
The site was previously occupied by the temporary Taw Hill doctor's surger and the Northern Sector Development Company site.
Council planning officers have recommended that the scheme be granted planning permission.

Councillor Peter Stoddart has welcomed the plans, "The residents of Taw Hill have waited long enough for local amenities, and I fully support this scheme. We, as the local Councillors for Abbey Meads and Taw Hill will do all we can to help this scheme pass through the Council processes as quickly as possible."
