Cllr Tomlinson Argues For Better Facilities For The Young

JustinCouncillor Justin Tomlinson appeared on Wiltshire Sound FM (Wednesday 26th February) to discuss why the young are increasingly spending less 2 hours participating in active pursuits.

It is crucial that Swindon Council does all that it can to provide suitable facilties for the young.  Not only does this help encourage a healthy lifestyle, but also helps tackle local anti-social behaviour, often caused by boredom,

In areas such as Abbey Meads, I am very worried about the lack of open spaces for example, where children can 'let off steam' playing sports such as football, tennis etc.

It is also important for the Government to protect the time for sport within the school timetable.

Also we must look at the services offered by Swindon's leisure centres, making sure for the young they have access to enjoyable, safe and affordable pursuits.
