Action On Groundwell West Issues

Local residents in the new Groundwell West development have grown concerned at the growing levels of litter, builder's rubble and state of the roads.

The area as of yet is still unadopted, therefore it is still the developers responsibility and not the Council's to make sure these issues are addressed.

Local residents have complained directly to the developers to no avail.

Local resident Kathy Thomas brought these issues to our attention and we immediately arranged for representives of the Council planning department, and developers to visit the site.  The local residents concerns were discussed and an action timetable agreed.

  • Immediate tidying up of the Thresher Drive area.
  • Tarmacing around the crumbling hump on Thresher Drive.
  • Top surfacing of the roads brought forward, starting from Warrener Close.

The situation concerning the Haul Road which currently connects Upper Groundwell from Lower Groundwell for the purpose of construction traffic was also discussed.  The Haul route was due to be closed in June, but the developers are currently 3 weeks behind schedule.  They have though tidied up the area at the bottom of the road which was a major concern for local residents.

We, along with local residents will monitor the situation very carefully over the next weeks.
