21/09/04 - Landscaping St. Andrews Ridge / Ash Brake

Councillor Justin Tomlinson, and Swindon Services Director John Short have recently toured St. Andrews Ridge and Ash Brake for a close examination of the problems of overgrowth of verges throughout the area.  In many areas the pavements are now inpassable, which is unacceptable.

Action Points:

• Swindon Services will be looking to additional work to tidy up the area.

• We have requested a meeting with the planning department to tighten up the type of plantation selected by developers.  In hindsight, the wrong plantation was put into St. Andrews Ridge, as whilst it was low maintaince for the developers during contruction, once established, the plants grow far too quickly causing the unsightly overgrowth.
