School catchment areas have been under consultation for the 2007/08 intake, in particular with the new Secondary School coming online.
Abbey Meads Cllrs, Justin Tomlinson, Owen Lister & Peter Stoddart attended a meeting with the Education Department to push for greater flexability in the system for local residents.
The biggest change will be for the residents of Upper & Lower Groundwell West. (Thresher Drive, Waggoner Close etc), who we have pressed to be included in the new Secondary School catchment area. This looks to be the case, despite the area currently falling under Penhill Primary School catchment area.
As it stands all of the Abbey Meads ward will be in the new Secondary School catchment area, with the exception of Taw Hill which will remain part of the Hreod Parkway Secondary School catchment area, inline with the majority of the Haydon Parish.
