We are expecting to hear the Government settlement for 05/06 any day now.
The Government provides Swindon Council with 67% of its money, so a good or poor settlement will have a huge impact on next years Council Tax level.
Under Labour we have seen the Governments share fall year on year from 73% in 1997 to only 67% last year, helping force Council Tax bills to double since 1997.
At a local level we are doing all we can to cut out the endless waste and mismanagement of the 25 years of Labour control in Swindon Council, and deliver residents value for money.
Last year, the Conservatives set Council Tax in Swindon, inline with inflation. Prior to that we had seen Council Tax rocket a staggering 42% in just 3 years under Labour.
