The New Kerbside Recycling Scheme In Swindon
Cllr Tomlinson will be highlighting the need to co-ordinate future development with the Council's environmental plans at this Wednesday's Cabinet meeting.
For example there is a drive from Swindon Council to increase kerbside recycling and introduce wheelie bins across Swindon. However many of the houses in the Northern Sector have very little frontage, potentially hampering the introduction of these schemes.
On another tact, I am keen to explore the potential to make the next major development as environmentally friendly as possible, which includes exploring all the options for solar energy. I have already arranged for a series of meetings with key Council Officers, and representatives from the solar panel industry.
Cllr Justin Tomlinson, "We must make sure with future developments that we take into consideration our future environmental plans, to maximise our green strategy. Implementing the infrastructure from the beginning is a million times more effective than retrospective action. I have been pressing for this co-ordinated approach, and if tied into future planning we will reap the rewards for generations to come."
