A few local residents have contacted me in relation to an update on the Lady Lane access.
Lady Lane will eventually be down graded to a footpath/cycleway is used by pedestrians, vehicles travelling to the school and occupants of the Bovis estate.
There is concerned that there may be an accident if a footpath is not provided, however, the history behind this is that in order to vary the programme of residential development around Bridlewood School. Members agreed that this part of Lady Lane could remain open to school traffic and access for up to 150 dwellings for a period of time that expires on 1st September 2006. After which time the Lane will be downgraded to a footpath/cycleway.
To ratify this a S106 agreement was signed between SBC/NSDC/Crest/Bloor. Bovis purchased most of the Crest Land to whichthis refers. I have looked at the construction figures and at this time only 32 dwellings have been built at areas H52-55.
The agreement requires speed restriction signs and a sign to indicate that the
road is only for the use of school and residential traffic. I understand that
these are in place however I will contact our Highways Division and NSDC to
make them aware of resident concerns about potential pedestrian safety.
