I have been working with local residents to look into the potential accident blackspot on Tadpole Lane, imediately to the East of its junction with Mayfly Road.
For the record, 6 vehicles lost control in separate accidents, 3 leaving the road on the south side where the BT telegraph pole was knocked down and 3 on the north side where a field gate was destroyed. All vehicles were travelling from East to West and all accidents occurred within the last 14 months. Not all these are recorded on the database but this may be because injuries did not occur in every accident and, as the Police only record injury accidents. Clearly we are right for this to be investigated straight away.
I have asked Bob Sanders to carry out some further investigations of traffic conditions at this bend and liaise with the traffic police with a view to recommending a scheme for urgent improvements.
In addition, we can see there is potential for flooding of the highway in this area and I will ensure that the Council addresses this. For example, the hedge, which overhangs the carriageway, will be cut back but not reduced in height.
