Local residents from Priory Manor, Chastleton Road have been working with Cllr Tomlinson and local developers in relation to the location of the proposed childrens park.
Whilst local residents supported the need for a play area, there were concerns it was too closely located to the Priory Manor retirement flats.
Having organised a public meeting with local residents late in 2005, Cllr Tomlinson & Council Officers have been working with local developers, and today we were able to organise a second public meeting, where Bovis confirmed revised plans would be submitted to the Council. These revised plans have moved the childrens play area across the open space.
Cllr Tomlinson, Martin Trewella (Planning Officer, Swindon Council) and John Dale (Bovis Homes) were on hand for the public meeting.
Cllr Tomlinson, "This is excellent news. We were always looking for a practical compromise as whilst we need the play area, the site was large enough to move it away from the retirement flats. We appreciate the efforts of the developers who will be covering the additional costs of these changes."
