First Primary School Hockey Tournament
Sixteen teams from eleven schools across Swindon will be competing in the first under 11 years hockey tournament for schools. Organised by Swindon Borough Council's Sports Development Team, the tournament will take place between 3.30pm and 5.30pm on Tuesday 21 March and Wednesday 22 March at Abbey Meads Community Primary School on Hugo Drive. Eight teams will compete on both days, with the final of the tournament taking place on Tuesday 28 March 2006.
The winning team and runners up will win the opportunity to compete in the Wiltshire Youth Games, which is being held at Bath University on Sunday 9 July 2006. Over 1000 children from across Wiltshire are expected to take part in the games, and hopes are high for Swindon children to bring home the medals.
Cllr Justin Tomlinson, Lead Member Leisure, Culture & Recreation, "Good luck to all the teams in this first under 11 years hockey tournamant for schools. I am delighted that the Abbey Meads Community Primary School facility is being used, and I hope all those who take part have an enjoyable couple of days!"
