The owners of the Abbeymeads site (identified by a white line above) are currently examining a number of options for its redevelopment.
The site, not including Abbey Stadium, is allocated in the Councils Local Plan for a major office / industrial / warehouse development of over 600,000 sq ft.
The owners are seeking to develop a mix of uses incorporating a new stadium, a care home village, up to 350 new homes and various forms of smaller scale business units.
You are invited to attend a public exhibition to view the proposals in more detail and to give the developers your feedback. Following receipt and consideration of your responses it is expected that a planning application will be submitted for the preferred scheme in the Autumn of 2006.
PUBLIC EXHIBITION
Tuesday 25
th July 2006, 11am to 7.30pmChurch of Christ the Servant, Abbey Meads, Swindon
Cllr Justin Tomlinson, "I would urge as many local residents to attend this public exhibition and let the developers know your views. My initial reaction is the potential change of land use away from light industrial is good news for local residents. However the news that we could face the loss of speedway in Swindon would be a major blow for speedway fans across Swindon and this must be opposed."
If residents would like their thoughts / concerns / views / comments etc passed directly onto the developer please e-mail me on:
I will personally pass them all onto the developer, who is acknowledging receipt and has promised to consider them as part of their consultation.
If you have any questions please do not hesitate me, as your local Councillor, I am always happy to help, even if it is just to explain the situation.
