Cllr Justin Tomlinson Discussing The Initial Plans With Local Residents
Following our constructive meetings with the developers in August, the developers are now ready to meet with Swindon Council to discuss potential ways to work forwards on the site, with speedway included.
Intially we had hoped to meet this week, however, due to half-term this meeting was moved back to November 8th. (You may have seen coverage in the Swindon Advertiser, however, there was a misunderstanding, as it was not just Swindon Council officers who were away, but also people on there side, so everyone was happy with the meeting being moved back, but hey these things happens in the press!)
This meeting will give the Council an opportunity to see what progress being made, and for the developers to review the help Swindon Council has been given to them. Swindon Council has been extremely pro-active in this campaign, as we recognise, and value the support for speedway, and the benefits for the town.
The priority for Swindon Council is for speedway's future to be secure, and we will not support any development unless this is 110% in place. There is cross-party support for this, and the developers need to work with the Council.
I will update the website with any news post the meeting.
