20/03/07 - Lady Lane Closure Update

Lady Lane
At our (Councillors) request pressure was applied to chase up the closure of Lady Lane, post Junction 6a closure meeting.
The first stage was to gain permission from the developers (as it is an unadopted area). The North Swindon Development Company took 2 months to reply, but finally did grant permission.
A traffic count in Chartwell Road was then required, however they then had to wait for half-term to pass (as this gives a false impression).
This is now all complete, to in April the closure of Lady Lane will be advertised with a 21/28 day notice given, which is required by law.
Swindon Council will then be able to get on with closing the road, with Mike Hales (Highways Officer) confirming that the job request will be made, and work done as quickly as possible from the end of the notice period.
Hopefully we will finally have Lady Lane closed off for good!
