Digital arts centre Create Studios has re-launched with a brand new set of hi-tech equipment at its new premises at the Wyvern Theatre.
Students, staff, and councillors celebrated the opening at the theatre and agreed that Swindon was not a cultural desert.
The art group offers 20 courses on film and digital arts to students aged eight to 80.
Course co-ordinator Keith Phillips said: "We've brought ourselves bang up to date in video, animation, graphics sound and keyboards.
"Two years ago is a lifetime in this game. Anything to do with digital arts and craft - we've got it.
"We can do many more courses now as we have a big digital media suite.
"Being able to teach students on the best software and knowing things won't go wrong in a lesson is the best thing."
The studio nurtures many upcoming filmmakers.
New College student Katherine Horn, 17, has been attending the classes since she was 13.
She won a prize for best thriller film at the First Light National Movies awards in 2006 along with two fellow students.
"We made our film Ice House, which took us a year to do," she said.
"Create helped us make it and get the funding.
"Winning was really good as the competition was of a high standard."
She was thrilled to get her award presented by English Patient director Anthony Minghella.
Manager Stuart Webb said moving Create Studios from the Town Hall was necessary.
He said: "We were in our old premises for nearly 25 years.
"We've expanded and grown and grown. We could no longer operate at the Town Hall.
"The opportunity came up to move into the Wyvern and we just jumped at the chance."
Swindon Council's chief executive, Gavin Jones, turned up to wish Create good luck in its new home.
He said: "I was blown away by the courses on offer and the range of age groups catered for.
"My daughter Emily attended here and I know what it has done for her.
"The new facility is more open and accessible with more space and this is reflected in the wide range of courses on offer."
Coun Justin Tomlinson, lead member for leisure and tourism, cut a digital red ribbon on a screen at the opening.
Mr Tomlinson said: "Create Studios is a jewel in our crown. This is an extremely proud moment for the council and Create."
