A number of local residents contacted me about the proposed bus changes set out by Thamesdown Transport during their recent consultation period.
I have just had confirmation that any potential changes have been put on hold for the time being:
David Burch, Operations Director, Thamesdown Transport, "A number of ideas and issues emerged from the consultation that we will now be exploring in detail over the coming months. As a result our revised network will not now be introduced until next year, and there will be no major changes to services during the remainder of 2007. A further announcement about our final plans will be made in the New Year."
Cllr Justin Tomlinson, "Whilst Thamesdown Transport argues that low usage dictates the potential reduction in service, I am believe they have made too little effort to market the service across the Northern Sector. Door to door leaflets detailing the service, times and costs would help generate additional usage. In my estate Taw Hill the service was expanded earlier in the year, but to date it has never been promoted - no wonder the bus often runs empty."
