ALICIA CLOSE SAVED!!!
We are delighted to confirm that Alicia Close has been saved!!!
We have worked extremely hard since we met at the residents meeting on Thursday:
We checked with planning and highways as to whether the proposed through road was essential which it wasnt. We have then been in contact with the developers to suggest the best way to avoid a battle (negative publicity and legal) with ourselves was to drop the through road, which would also include a slight redesign to the new development which had recently been granted planning permission.
As your Councillors and fellow local residents we have always dealt with issues swiftly and hands on, you deserved to be supported and we are delighted that we have delivered the right outcome!
Below is the confirmation from Ian Halsall, the Planning Officer:
I have just had a meeting with Rob Beattie the regional director for Taylor Wimpey and we have agreed a solution. The cul-de-sac together with the hedgerow will be reinstated but with a 2 metre wide gap to allow pedestrian access. A further cul-de-sac will be formed on the H91 side and this has got the in principle approval of highways.
They will have to move 4 houses 1 metre to the west to accommodate a new turning head and I have advised them that they will need a revised application. This will be a good thing particularly if we ensure that all the residents of Alicia Close are notified, which will confirm that the Council has been able to formally resolve the issue. I have suggested that rather than wait for us to process an application, they just go ahead and reinstate the hedge and press ahead with implementing H91 as we have agreed. But they will be preparing an application for submission next week.
Taylor Wimpey will be contacting the residents separately to advise them what has been agreed with us and presumably to offer their apologies.
