A new delivery of 13 plastic sacks will begin in June 2008. This is the equivalent of 1 sack every four weeks. Additional plastic bags can be purchased from Council outlets e.g. leisure centres, libraries and tourist information for 20p each.
Deliveries of the free 13 sacks will be done according to collection day. If your collection day is on a:
Monday, then plastic bottle sacks will be delivered in June
Tuesday, delivery in July
Wednesday, delivery in August
Thursday, delivery in September
Friday, delivery in October
A new recycling leaflet will be delivered to all homes between May and the end of June and includes this delivery information as well as an updated collection calendar.
Why only plastic bottles? All plastic bottles are made from particular types of plastic that are easily recognisable. Bags, pots, trays and tubs are made from different plastic that is more difficult to identify.
Why can't I use my own clear plastic sack? To provide an efficient service we want to collect your squashed plastic bottles when the bag is full. The special bags are clear, big, easy for us to tear and we want you to fill them up.
