02/07/08 - Cllr Vera Tomlinson, Letter Regarding Removal Of Hedgerow

ALICIA CLOSE HEDGEROW - Cllr Vera Tomlinson

Dear Residents,

Re: LETTER REGARDING REMOVAL OF HEDGEROW

On Friday we were contacted by concerned residents of Alicia Close that you had each received a letter indicating the removal of the hedgerow at the end of Alicia Close and that this would take place today Monday 30th June. Early this morning Justin and I contacted Ian Halsall, Planning Officer S.B.C and through him John Drew from Taylor Wimpy, the outcome of which is as follows:

  1. It is necessary to remove the hedgerow on safety grounds. Houses which are to be built on the far side of this hedgerow need to have scaffolding erected and it seems this hedgerow would get seriously damaged during this and the building process, therefore, it would be safer and easier to take out the hedge altogether.

  1. Taylor Wimpy have now agreed that after work has been completed in the autumn, this hedgerow will be re-planted.

  1. Work on removing this hedgerow will not now start until later this week giving Taylor Wimpy time to put in writing to Swindon Borough Council that the hedgerow will be replanted in the autumn of which a copy will be sent to you as soon as Justin and I receive it.

If you have any concerns regarding the above please ring me (Vera) on: 01793 703751

Kind regards,

Vera Tomlinson – Conservative, Abbey Meads Ward Councillor
