Following on from last year’s successful informal public meeting, we have once again booked Orchid Vale on Monday 13th October 6pm – 8pm, please feel free to pop along at any time.  We have invited schools admission staff and education officers to be available to advise parents on a one-to-one basis for 2009/10 school admission applications, ahead of the deadline on 14th November.  This helped a number of parents last year and we hope many local parents will take up this opportunity to seek individual advice.

Schools Admissions Update - We are continuing to work hard to deliver additional primary school places for local residents in the Northern Sector.  We are progressing on plans to bring the new PS7 school online for 2009.  The Labour Government makes all new schools go out to competition to determine who will run the school.  We will be supporting Swindon Council’s bid for a Council-run community school as this will provide the maximum number of potential places for local residents.  In addition we are exploring ways to secure funding for the permanent expansion of St. Francis after the Labour Government rejected our initial application for funding.  We have previously delivered extra places at Abbey Meads, Catherine Wayte, St Francis and Haydonleigh.  Further updates on admissions will be on our website.
