Last week more than 3,000 people took to the ice rink for casual skating sessions at the Link Centre, in
Both family and individual sessions are proving popular, particularly at weekends. With a capacity for around 600 skaters per session, the rink is coping well with the increased demand. Hire skates are included in the price of a casual session and with boots from childrens size 5 and upwards to adult size 13, there is room for all the family.
Although February is traditionally the busiest month, Swindon-born star Melinda Messengers appearance on Dancing On Ice has given numbers an extra boost.
Before filming for the show started, the Swindon-born star took her first tentative steps on the ice at the Link Centre with friends.
Melinda said: The change is amazing, considering when I came to the Link Centre rink a few months back I could barely stay upright. Im absolutely loving the show and am hugely grateful for all the support people are giving its fantastic, so I want to say a big thank you.
The Link Centre, which is open seven days a week, also boasts a shop to cater for all your skating needs. With prices starting at around £40, there are boots to suit all budgets and abilities.
