05/03/09 - Schools Admissions

Letters have just been sent out allocating secondary schoolplaces for 2009/10. Any parents who would like advice on their offers should contact the Schools Admissions team on:
465867, 465766 or 465791
Summary of the allocations:
- All children have been offered a school place.
- All children on the waiting list have been offered an alternative school.
- All children who were not offered Isambard School, who expressed it as a preference on their application have been offered an alternative school.
- All applications that were received by the closing date and stated Nova Hreod or Isambard as a preference were offered one of these schools providing they were in catchment.
- For applications where only 1 preference of Isambard was listed, children were offered an alternative school of either Nova Hreod School or Swindon Academy depending on distance to home address.
There are currently 65 children on the waiting list for Isambard, of which 35 are in catchment.
Cllr Vera Tomlinson, "We will continue to do all we can support local parents to secure a place in their first preference school. As is often the case with newly built schools they are oversubscribed and if you have been unsuccessful in securing a place please do either call myself, or the Schools Admissions team to see what options are available to you."
