16/06/09 - Bovis Homes Chased Over Hayburn Road Issues (Updated)

Local residents in Hayburn Road have contacted us with ongoing concerns with the developer Bovis.  Both the Council and the MP have now written to Bovis to demand action, after they have dragged their feet for the past 18 months.  We have now asked for the Enforcement Officer to visit the area on Wednesday to help apply the maximum pressure to address the on-going concerns.

Below is a list of on-going concerns:

  • State of the roads and pavements (never swept or cleaned)
  • Pavements not finished off (Hayburn Road)
  • Lighting not working (Hayburn Road)
  • Roundabouts incomplete (Grass laid on weeds - hardly worth the tax payers money spent)
  • Fencing (uneven, hazardouse and terrible to look at for all residents)
  • Large pot hole, reported and not filled in (self-help by me has helped a little)
  • Domestic and garden waste dumped on Bovis land
  • White goods and bovis waste, dumped on Bovis land
  • Illegal dumping of Building rubble - a great deal of which is used as a barrier along Hayburn Road (Disguising it won't stop it being seen)
  • The whole area is unsightly, untidy and overgrown and is a dumping ground for Bovis!

Cllr Justin Tomlinson, "The developers have charged a premium for their houses and it is unacceptable that they have had to relentlessly chase Bovis for action.  We will continue to apply the maximum pressure to force the developers to tidy up the area as a matter of urgency.''

17/06/09 - Myself, Wayne Davies (local resident), Dave Bristow (Enforcement Officer) & 2 representatives from Bovis Homes met on site and things that were agreed at our meeting today included:

  • Remove all building supplies in this area to another location.
  • Flatten all building waste to ground level.
  • Cover this flattened waste land with grass seed to obscure the view of rubble.
  • Move the fencing back approx 1 metre and level it off (remove blue covering).
  • Visibility of planning for 70+ buildings opposite (partuicularly 3 storey buildings opposite our 2 storey buildings)

In addition, we will chase Crest and  the Consorium regarding their responsibilities for the unfinished:

  • Pavement  (also needs sweeping)
  • Drains
  • Lighting
  • Pot hole at entrance
