Working with planning officers at Swindon Borough Council we are continuing to chase up the completition of the Queen Elizabeth Drive.
We had previously expected this link to be completed late last year, however the developers efforts have so far been thwarted by the Webb Paton, the Farmers Agent, who are responsible for what is now a 'ransom strip' of land.
Whilst the farm is no longer in active use, the Farmers Agent will not realise the strip of land (which in theory allows access for cattle to the neighbouring field) until the farm is sold with full planning permission, and once the housing market improves (so they can maximise their sale value).
The Council is continuing to apply pressure to the Farmers Agent and to help speed up the development of the surrounding area to encourage the sale of the farm.
Cllr Justin Tomlinson, "The actions of the Farmers Agent is nothing short of a disgrace. We are applying the maximum pressure to get this tiny bit of land released to open up Queen Elizabeth Drive. We will keep residents updated as we hear any further news.''
