26/06/09 - Torun Way Bus Gate Update

Along with local residents we have continued to chase progress with the installation of the Torun Way bus gate.
Despite pressure, I can indicate that Taylor Wimpey has recently objected to immediate implementation due to poor property sales and their ongoing completion works for their H88 site. Whilst this is a poor excuse, there is very little we can do to expedite the process due to frail conditions that were imposed against the master planning consent. No time scales were ever agreed for this bus gates implementation, other than it must be completed prior to the area being adopted.
We are hopeful that Taylor Wimpey will relent in their objections for the Torun Way bus gate implementation in the very near future, as house sales appear to be progressing and as soon we receive this I imagine works will take place to install the necessary signs and lines along with the arrangement of the legal traffic order pretty swiftly.
Cllr Justin Tomlinson, "We will continue to chase this issue. Firstly, because they have sold houses with the promise of the bus gate installation. Secondly, they appear to be delaying to help sell additional houses as residents will wrongly presume the area will remain a through road. In my mind this is a disgrace."
