27/06/09 - Cllr Justin Tomlinson, 20 Mile Midnight Walk For Swindon MS Therapy Centre

Cllr Justin Tomlinson organised for Swindon Conservative members to join them in taking part in the 'Midnight Ridgeway Walk' on Saturday 13th June.  The 20 mile hike through out the night to help raise money for an excellent local charity, 'The Swindon Therapy Centre'

The Swindon Therapy Centre serves the MS Community in and around Swindon.  They are here to provide therapies, support, advice and information for people with MS, their families and carers.

The therapies offered by the Centre are a major contribution to the fight against MS. Not only does the group offer support, but also practical solutions to problems and help with day to day living.

In 2008 the Centre started treating other conditions, such as Strokes, Parkinsons Disease, as well as children with Cerebral Palsy, Autism and brain injuries, as all these conditions can benefit from the oxygen therapy, physiotherapy and other therapies we offer.

Through a huge amount of fund-raising and donations they have been able to secure a fantastic new centre - allowing them extend their services.  They still need to raise £200k to cover the costs of additional equipment which can make a real difference to their users.

As a group we are expected to have collected in about £1300, though it is still possible to sponsor those who took part through our various 'Just Giving' websites:

If you would prefer to donate directly, please don't hesitate to contact me.

Cllr Justin Tomlinson, "Phew!  We are chuffed to bits to complete the 20 miles in one piece!  It was a great challenge and we are delighted to have helped raise some valuable money for the Swindon MS Therapy Centre.  Thank you to everyone who has sponsored us, we know the centre is extremely grateful for the money.''
