25/06/10 - Councillors Support Local School Fete

Abbey Meads Borough Councillors Peter Heaton-Jones and Vera Tomlinson joined the crowds at the Bridlewood Primary School Summer Fete this afternoon.  North Swindon MP Justin Tomlinson was the special guest.

There was perfect weather for the fete, which raised more than £600 for school funds. Attractions included stalls, competitions, a penalty shoot-out and even a chance to throw wet sponges at teachers!

Cllr Vera Tomlinson said,  "It was a really enjoyable afternoon. I was put in charge of the 'bucket drop' game,
and I'm delighted that we took £72 on that alone.  Bridlewood is a great school, and I know the money will be
put to good use".

Cllr Peter Heaton-Jones said, "So many parents, teachers, children and friends had obviously put in so much work, so it's great news that the event was such a success.  I didn't win anything on any of the stalls, but the seedlings I bought from the plant stall are now thriving!  Well done to everyone involved".
