Conservative ward councillors have arranged a meeting with the head of Thamesdown Transport to raise concerns over a number of changes to bus services in Abbey Meads. They will be meeting Paul Jenkins on Friday 23 July - just two days before the new timetables take effect. |
Councillors have had many emails from residents concerned about the changes. In particular, residents of Ash Brake will be left without a bus service altogether following the re-routing of the number 24. And service 18, which is used by many North Swindon residents, is being withdrawn altogether, although most areas will be served instead by new or re-routed services.
Cllr Peter Heaton-Jones said, "It's disappointing that we can't meet the head of Thamesdown Transport until just two days before the changes are due to take effect, but Mr Jenkins was unfortunately unavailable until then. Many residents are concerned about the changes - especially the fact that Ash Brake is losing its bus service altogether.
"I have already made it clear to Thamesdown Transport that I believe this is a most unfortunate decision for local residents, and Cllrs Vera Tomlinson, Peter Stoddart and I will be hammering home this point when we meet Mr Jenkins on Friday week".
