Plans to build 14 new houses on the site of one of North Swindon's last-remaining farms have been delayed after intervention from an Abbey Meads councillor. At last night's Swindon Borough Council Planning Committee, it was agreed that a decision on the planning application relating to Haydon Farm should be deferred. An application had been submitted to build 14 new houses on the site at Haydon Lane End. Officers had recommended that planning permission be granted at the meeting. |
However discussions were held prior to the formal meeting which led to officers, councillors and the applicant agreeing to defer a decision while amendments were made to the application.
The move came after Abbey Meads Conservative councillor Vera Tomlinson, who is vice-chair of the Planning Committee, expressed reservations about the external materials to be used on some of the proposed houses.
The decision to defer was agreed by the committee, which also includes Abbey Meads ward councillor Peter Heaton-Jones.
