Abbey Meads ward councillors are inviting interested residents to come forward and fill a vacancy on the Board of Governors at Bridlewood School.
The School has a vacancy for a so-called 'Local Authority Governor' - that is, one nominated for the role by the local councillors.
School Governors play an important role overseeing the work of the school, setting policies and reviewing performance.
Governors do not need to have children at the school; indeed the governing body should be representative of the community as a whole, so people from all walks of life are eligible to apply.
Abbey Meads ward Councillor Peter Heaton-Jones said, "As a Governor myself, at Isambard Community School in Redhouse, I know first-hand what a rewarding job it is. Governors play a vital role in the life of a school, and so I hope people will come forward to fill this vacancy at Bridlewood".
