19/08/10 - Mouldon Hill Car Park Open!

The long-awaited new car park at Mouldon Hill Country Park is open and is already proving popular with visitors.

The milestone means the ambitious project to transform the country park is a step nearer completion.  Delays caused by the harsh winter meant work on the new car park fell behind schedule, but it's now been opened.

The access road is off Thamesdown Drive opposite the Tawny Owl.  Landscaping, fencing, and other development work is also on track at the Park, which has been accessible only on foot until now.

Plans have now been confirmed for the Swindon & Cricklade Railway to have a station in the new country park.   The project's been made possible by £65,000 in developer funds secured by Abbey Meads Councillor Vera Tomlinson.

Cllr Tomlinson said, "I'm delighted that I've manged to secure this money which will really benefit local residents and visitors alike.  The Swiindon & Cricklade Railway station will be a real asset to this Country Park, and I can't wait to see it happen".
