The current Abbey Meads ward seems certain to be abolished as part of a review of local government boundaries in Swindon.
The review has been triggered because the population of Abbey Meads has grown so much since the ward was created that it is now too big to be an individual ward, according to the rules laid down by Parliament.
The Local Government Boundary Commission for England has decided to review the whole of the Borough of Swindon as part of the process.
The first stage of the consultation period is now over. You can read all the submissions on the Boundary Commission's website: http://www.lgbce.org.uk/all-reviews/south-west/wiltshire/swindon-electoral-review
