Despite other councils around the country closing libraries, the Conservative administration on Swindon Borough Council is offering extended opening hours.
For our local library in North Swindon, the new proposed opening hours are as follows:
|
|
OPEN |
CLOSE |
|
MONDAY |
10.00 |
6.00 |
|
TUESDAY |
10.00 |
6.00 |
|
WEDNESDAY |
10.00 |
7.00 |
|
THURSDAY |
10.00 |
6.00 |
|
FRIDAY |
10.00 |
7.00 |
|
SATURDAY |
10.00 |
4.00 |
|
SUNDAY |
12.00 |
4.00 |
This means that:
· These new times will offer 10 more hours open per week than now.
· The library will be open on 6 days per week, compared to 5 at the moment.
· There will be no half-day closing, as now.
· This change can be made at no extra cost.
The proposal is that these hours will be introduced from 4 July.
Abbey Meads ward councillors Vera Tomlinson, Peter Stoddart and Peter Heaton-Jones welcomed the new opening times.
