Local resident Vera was elected on Thursday 1st May 2008 with a staggering 76% of the vote. She represents the Abbey Meads ward alongside Cllr Peter Stoddart, who was first elected in 2000, and Cllr Peter Heaton-Jones, first elected in 2010.

Vera is the mother of  North Swindon MP and former Abbey Meads Councillor Justin Tomlinson.  She is an experienced Councillor having previously been an elected Councillor in Kidderminster before retiring to Swindon.
