Abbey Meads Ward:
I have represented the Abbey Meads ward since it was created in 2000, during which time I have been re-elected with an increasing majorities on two occassions. During my time as a Councillor I have led a number of successful local campaigns:
- Securing PS7 (Oakhurst) as a Swindon Borough Council community school
- Saving Junction 6a
- Securing the Blunsdon Arms pub over McDonalds and KFC in Ash Brake
- Saving the Abbey Stadium / Swindon Speedway
- Securing the David Lloyd Leisure Facility
- Expanding School Primary School places
- Securing the forthcoming Marks & Spencers at the Northern Orbital
- Bringing developers to account for failing to deliver on their glossy sales brochures
I have always worked tirelessly for fellow local residents whether it is dealing with individual case work, or on any major issue that has impacted on our area.
As a Councillor I have a 100% attendance record and I have never claimed a penny in expenses.
Swindon Borough Council:
I have held various senior roles including from May 2003 through to December 2008 on Swindon Council I was the Lead Member for Leisure, Recreation & Culture on Swindon Borough Council. My main achievements included:
- Delivered the new Central Library on time and on budget
- Improved Leisure facilities in particular at the Link, Oasis, Highworth and Dorcan
- Set up the successful Sports and Arts Forums
- Delivered improvements to STEAM museum, which saw increased visitor figures
Parliamentary Candidate:
I am the Conservative Parliamentary candidate for North Swindon. At the last General Election I cut the Labour majority from 8100 to 2500, which was one of the biggest swings in the country.
As a local resident I will always do everything I can to deliver the very best for our local area, no excuses.
